Parental Fitness Evaluation
A comprehensive parental fitness evaluation will help you show your capability to meet your child’s emotional and physical needs in court if needed by doing the following:
- indicate if you have mental health and/or substance abuse issues that impact your ability to parent effectively and how any mental health symptoms you may have to affect your ability to parent effectively
- measure your response to situations that might arise during day-to-day parenting
- measure your knowledge of your child’s likes, dislikes, routine, academic and medical history, etc.
- indicate how you respond to your child’s needs and promote their development
- indicate how you view your children and the nature/quality of your relationship with them
- indicate the degree of emotional closeness with your children
- indicate relevant personality traits (strengths/weaknesses) that can influence your parenting abilities
- assess for risk factors of parental problems such as domestic violence, abuse/trauma, etc.
