Parental Fitness Evaluation

A comprehensive parental fitness evaluation will help you show your capability to meet your child’s emotional and physical needs in court if needed by doing the following:

  • indicate if you have mental health and/or substance abuse issues that impact your ability to parent effectively and how any mental health symptoms you may have to affect your ability to parent effectively
  • measure your response to situations that might arise during day-to-day parenting
  • measure your knowledge of your child’s likes, dislikes, routine, academic and medical history, etc.
  • indicate how you respond to your child’s needs and promote their development
  • indicate how you view your children and the nature/quality of your relationship with them
  • indicate the degree of emotional closeness with your children
  • indicate relevant personality traits (strengths/weaknesses) that can influence your parenting abilities
  • assess for risk factors of parental problems such as domestic violence, abuse/trauma, etc.
